Well, after an awful run of form, the English rugby team have finally won, just!!!
Andy Robinson was a brave choice from the RFU, and last week, after 7 (yes, seven!) straight defeats, the Rugby World Champions were somewhat unsettled on the field. The RFU held meetings, the press continued to mount speculation that Andy Robinson, England manager, would not hold the position for much longer.
November started badly, losing to New Zealand, in a good game, was a promising performance, but then a loss and a shocking performance against Argentina saw the team booed off the field at their home ground in Twickenham.
People were calling for Andy Robinson to be sacked, and following a narrow victory over South Africa, this pressure may have been temporarily relieved, however the speculation will still be that England need a new manager, if they are to attain the heights reached in 2003, when they beat Australia in the Rugby Union World Cup Final, with almost the last kick of the game from Jonny Wilkinson.
Andy Robinson may not be the England Manager for much longer, but who will be the next england manager? Now is a good time to get your bets on, as you will get better odds at the moment.....we're looking to do some research on a short list for the next england manager, so who do you think is in the frame? Will Rob Andrew be the next england manager, or will it be Dean Richards. With the trend these days to look abroad, will the england manager be from overseas? Who would you like us to track? Leave a comment....
Changing sports back to FOOTBALL......Steve McClaren has not had the greatest start to his career as England Manager, but the football has generally been good. A draw against the Dutch in Holland last week was a good game, and England could feel a little hard done by for the equaliser the Holland team scored shortly before the end, and a couple of bad results in the Euro qualifiers, England find themselves 3rd in the qualifying group going into the new year. Any thoughts on whether McClaren will be the England Manager this time next year, or have you any hot tips or gossip about what will happen...let us know by leaving a comment.....
